Ahhh, the Beers of Europe

The last several months I have been expanding my beer tastes into some of the more exotic imports that are available in the surrounding areas of Grove City. I have developed a taste for the following beers.

If you are looking for a great, crisp beverage with a mild aftertaste I suggest Pilsner Urquell. It is a great drink if you are slightly tired or worn out from a day of work and are looking for a great starter drink before your half priced appetizers. Pilsner Urquell hails from the Czech Republic and it made with the bones of former communists. Now let's say that you are in the mood for a nutty, almost espresso-like drink that is dark and faintly sweet. In that case I would recommend the Mackeson Triple Stout. I find that the best analogy for this drink is Port. As Port is to wine, Mackeson XXX is to beer. It is a great drink to have late evening possibly with dessert.
What about if I am in the mood for a drink with a little more kick and a bolder taste? Look no further than Fuller's Extra Special Bitter. Keep in mind that this puppy runs about $4.50 a bottle, but it is worth every drop and at the 5.5% alcohol percent it packs a nice little punch. This drink goes wonderfully with crab dip and tortilla chips or just something salty. Pick this and you'll leave with a smile. Finally let us take the path to the beer that is just great all around. This beer has its' own name in England. The "old dog" as it is referred to, has set a mark for the brown ale that is hard to reach for the competitors. New Castle Brown Ale is amazing in the bottle but even better on tap. With a slightly nutty aftertaste, the old dog clashes with virtually nothing and complements basically everything. When in doubt get a pint. I hope that my beer reviews have been helpful for all of you novices out there. Next time you go out just remember...imports are sweet and Coors Light sucks.

Yes, I would like something made from Communist bones. Do you have anything like that on tap?

Seriously, though, Mackeson is one of my favorite beers ever.

You left out a wonderful beer of the world - Red Stripe. Not only is it Jamacian (which automatcially makes it great) it comes in cute, short, fat bottles!

While we are speaking about short fat bottles, Negra Mondelo from Mexico isn't bad at all. It is basically the dark brother of Corona. Also Dos Equis Amber from Mexico hails well.

I love Newcastle- but how about a shout out to Labatt Blue? Technically it's an import, and it's freaking sweet.

"exploring the exotic [anything] near grove city" is like saying you're having a nice time exploring the mountains of Kansas.
